Magazine Project Genre Research- Rap Vibe Vixen
Vibe Vixen was a magazine geared towards female readers of Vibe magazine that covered beauty, dating, entertainment, fashion, and societal issues for "urban minded females". This cover showcases Keke Palmer in a blue, intricately designed, brassier. Her hair is in braids which symbolizes the black culture. A blue color incorporated in the font adds to the overall color scheme of this cover. The articles pro dominantly featured in this magazine are interviews with various artist; for example, Keke Palmer, Ciara, Tracee Ellis Ross, etc. The advertisements included in Vibe Vixen are that of ads from marketers including Bacardi, Colgate Palmolive, McDonald's, and Nissan. The photos that are found in Vibe Vixen range from photography of artist to hair care photos. As of 2007, Vibe has a circulation of 800,000. Beginning in 2003, Vibe produced and aired its annual awards show on UPN through 2006; however, Vibe magazine has won many awards one of them being National Magazine Award.
